Green River Baptist Church is seeking a Pastor, who subscribes to the 2000 Baptist Faith and Message, to grow and nurture its membership.  GRBC has a long standing tradition of serving our community and has historically been focused on evangelism and children’s ministries.   The church body strongly believes in the power of prayer and the need to continue to be a praying church.  The membership is seeking a Pastor who is led by the he Holy Spirit and with the Holy Spirit’s guidance teaches the FULL counsel of God.

 Requirements:

Preaching- Called by God to preach the whole unabridged counsel of God with a strong emphasis on expository preaching (Acts 20:27, Timothy 2:15), letting the Word of God dictate the message rather than outside events, politics, or agendas.   Preaching that challenges our membership and pushes the membership to grow spiritually. Has the calling “to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up of the body of Christ” (Eph. 4:12) both domestically and internationally.

Prayer - Prays continually (1 Thess. 5:17, Acts 6:4), and leads GRBC in a culture of prayer. Committed to both public and private prayer, and leads by example.

Servant Leadership - According to the Scriptural mandate, the pastor must lead by example: acting in a manner above reproach in all things (1 Tim 3:2), managing his household well (1 Tim 3:4), and following our Lord’s example of humility (Philippians 2:5-11). We also expect the pastor to be able to speak the truth in love (Eph. 4:15) in all situations, especially when doing so is challenging.

Disciple-making - Is committed to leading GRBC in a culture of disciple-making, knowing that Jesus has called his Church to “make disciples of all nations” (Matt. 28:19).

Counseling - Gives sound biblical counsel, advice, and guidance; encourages mature believers in the faith to assist with spiritual counseling opportunities (Titus 2:2-5).

Fellowship and Community - Promotes a sense of community among GRBC, and encourages the members to transcend generational, socio-economic, and personal differences in Christ-centered fellowship (Titus 2, James 2). He and his family are involved in the lives of members of the church outside of regularly scheduled church services as co-members in the body of Christ.

Administration - Be able to lead the church, the organizations, and all leaders of the church in performing their tasks in worship, proclamation, education, and disciple-making.  Adhere to all policies, procedures, and by-laws adopted by GRBC.

Vision/Planning -Able to discern the strengths and weaknesses of the church family and recognize the gifts, talents, and faithfulness of its individual members. Accepts the opportunities and goals established by the church and will work with and through GRBC to discover God’s vision and will build upon enduring biblical principles to cast God’s vision for the future of GRBC.
